Vesconite Rod
$24.50 - $28.00
Cocky Valve is the only company in the Australian market that makes available Vesconite Push rods for those installations where the water has a high mineral content.
VESCONITE™ is a self-lubricating plastic that is now widely used in both the agricultural and mining sectors.
Calcium deposits from “hard water” can quickly clog and render most other valves inoperable.
Cocky Valve designs, using the Vesconite Push rod can help reduce and delay this build-up.
If however, the calcium deposits continue to cause issues, standing our SS316 valves in a CLR (Calcium, Lime & Rust) removing agent for just a few hours, will dissolve the build-up and allow the valve to operate normally once more.
- 1¼ Inch, 1½ Inch & 2 Inch Vesconite Rod
or
- Ulti-Flo Vesconite Rod
Mineral build-up resistance: Ideal for hard water situations where scale or calcite might clog or seize standard metal pushrods.
Low friction & wear: Vesconite’s self-lubricating properties reduce wear and allow reliable movement without frequent maintenance.
Dimensional stability: It resists swelling or distortion in water, maintaining consistent fit and movement over time.
Enhanced compatibility: Offered for all major Cocky Valve sizes, so upgrading is straightforward.
Extend component life & reduce downtime: Because it handles harsh water conditions better, customers avoid frequent rod replacements or valve failures from seized parts.
1. What is a Vesconite Rod used for in the Cocky Valve system?
It’s a replacement pushrod option for valves operating in water with high mineral content (e.g. calcite), where standard metal pushrods tend to accumulate scale or seize.
2. What material properties make Vesconite suitable for these harsh water conditions?
Vesconite is a self-lubricating, low-friction thermoplastic that resists wear, has low creep, stable dimensions, and does not swell significantly in water—so it performs reliably even when not frequently lubricated.
3. How does the Vesconite Rod compare to SS316 pushrods?
While SS316 offers excellent strength and corrosion resistance, Vesconite trade-offs some strength for superior resistance to scale build-up, lower friction, and better performance in dirty or heavily mineralised water, meaning less maintenance.
4. Is the Vesconite Rod compatible with all Cocky Valve sizes and models?
Yes. Cocky Valve offers Vesconite rods for multiple valve sizes so you can swap in the rod appropriate to your valve body size with minimal alteration.
